19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid year, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in specific - caused him falling of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's first championship after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court since spring of 2023.

Victory also indicates he has secured 21 championships at 21 various events.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters at once, so to win a title is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

His defensive play style and regular outbursts on the playing surface had prompted observers to question if his capacity to perform at the highest level was finished.

However the player has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, backed up by an improved service.

He came back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky opponent, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour victory, took control to push for a third set.

The opponent rescued four initial chances in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he clinched the win with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
